Year End Giving

Dear Members:

Thanks to you… This Year…

We’ve supported and honored the partners and spouses of America’s LGBT+ service members and veterans – our nation’s modern military families. Through your help we raised and donated over $1,100 to the American Military Partner Association (AMPA).

We’ve supported LIKEME® Lighthouse-KC in their mission to provide on-site counseling LGBT+ resource referrals, safe meeting & event space for over 20 community organizations & groups, and many educational and social events to give the LGBT+ community a sense of belonging. We’ve done so by raising $1,000 just this year and over $13,000 since 2014.

We’ve supported FosterAdopt Connect in their unending mission to serve the most vulnerable in our community, abused and neglected children. This unique organization was created by foster and adoptive families for foster and adoptive families, and operates on the core value that it is in the context of the family that children learn, grow, thrive and heal. We know that the $1,000 we raised was put to good use.

We’ve support our ever expanding arts communities through donations of the Mid American Freedom Band and Heartland Men’s Chorus.

You also stood with us and others to raise over $1,100 for the OneOrlando Fund after the horrific Pulse Club massacre in Orlando.

Every day, your support makes our grants possible.

Today, we’re launching our 2016 Year-End Campaign. This coming year, we expect there to be greater needs than ever before. We must lend our voice and our dollars to help those who advocate and serve our friends, loved ones, and neighbors. $4,000 would insure suicide prevention lines are answered by trained, caring, loving professions. $4,000 would help provide college scholarships to graduating LGBT+ high school seniors. $4,000 would provide new backpacks and school supplies to over 300 foster children.

That’s why our goal is to raise $4,000 by December 31, 2016.

Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us meet our goal?

We simply can’t do it without you. Your support will make a real, lasting impact in the lives of those who are still in need.

Thank you for your continued support and friendship.

With gratitude,

Naughty Party Postponed

Due to the freezing rain and potential for a lot of snow we’re going to postpone our annual Naughty Party. We are planning on having it 01/04/2014 at the same place at the same time. We will post more details once everything is confirmed.

Stay safe and warm and happy holidays from the Bear Mafia!

Bear Mafia is planning a Bear Run in Kansas City for 2014!

Last month we had a meeting to discuss ideas for our Big Event for 2014. We announced here right after that we were exploring the idea of a bear run here in Kansas City. Well, we have been doing our due diligence, and met with some key allies, and I am very proud to announce that the Kansas City Bear Mafia WILL be putting on a bear run in 2014!!!

There will be MANY opportunities to get involved with putting on this event, and we are inviting anyone that would like to be a part of Kansas City’s inaugural bear run to speak up, step forward, and join in on what is truly going to be a special time for the Kansas City bear community, and it’s allies! There is so much planning and work to be done over the coming months, and I, along with the other committee leaders and committee members look forward to working along side you!

If you would like to get involved in the planning and carrying out of this special event, please contact Matt Stanley or any of the other committee leaders on FB, and you will be added to the run committee. There will be regular meetings to attend, and various tasks to be carried out during this process. Among things to be decided at the first meeting(not yet scheduled), our bear run name and theme! You may also email me at MStanley@kcbearmafia.org with any questions or interest in getting involved. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
