National Pride March – Kansas City
June 11, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Q. Is this a rally or a march?
A. It was decided for logistical and financial reasons that this event would be best as an unorganized/non permitted rally on the sidewalks near Ilus David Park and in front of City Hall.
The First Amendment bars government from requiring a permit when one person or a small group protest in a park, or when a group of any size protest on a public sidewalk in a manner that does not burden pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
BE AWARE:
If the rally does not meet requirement for a non-permit event (more than a small group or it burdens traffic) then the First Amendment does not excuse the absence of a permit, and protesters without a permit might be arrested or prosecuted.
Q: Where is the rally?
A: The sidewalks near Ilus David Park and in front of City Hall in a manner that does not burden pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
Q: Who is organizing the event?
A: This event is only for spreading the word that a rally (a verb meaning to come together) can happen in the name of LGBTQIA support on June 11th. There is no organizer behind it.
Q: What will happen at the rally?
A: That’s up to the people who attend the rally. The purpose of the rally is to come together and show support of the LGBTQIA community. You can show support by making signs, t-shirts, talking with people, or just by being there.
